Department Of English
Ever since its inception along with the establishment of the college itself in 2017, the department of English is dedicated to proper development of its students in all possible ways. English as a subject functions in two ways. First, being lingua franca it facilitates communication in a multilingual atmosphere. Second, it opens up an infinite world of comprehensive knowledge through the exploration of literatures from all over the world. The faculties of the department always strive to impart both these aspects in the students. The classroom environment is friendly and students are encouraged to express their views uninhibitedly. The department follows syllabi under C.B.C.S curriculum for both Honours and General students as prescribed by the Vidyasagar University and has a seminar library with a wide range of books for the students. Considering the Bengali medium background of most of the students, teachers take extra care to analyse texts in details following bi-lingual method. They believe teaching is always a two-way process and teachers’ job is more to create students’ interest in the subject than to mere teach.
